I just got a message on myspace, my best friend from intermediate and high school wants to friend me. What a happy surprise. I havent spoken to Cindy for at least 7 or 8 years now. I tried to set up a time to hook up again when I went to Hawaii and she never replied to me. I'm tickled that she found me. Ill have to catch up with her. Just from perusing her myspace account I can tell there has been a lot of changes in her life since we last spoke.

On the home front, October is the birthday month for both Mikey and Donald. The birthday presents I've ordered for them are starting to arrive in the mail. Im so bad at this stuff. Like a 5 year old who cant keep a secret. As soon as the gift arrives I get so excited I try to give it to them. Luckily they both know this about me and have more willpower. They refuse to look or take the gifts. They both want to wait for their birthdays. Otherwise, I end up giving the gift to them when it comes in then have to scamble to get birthday presents when the actual date arrive. I'm still a kid a heart when it comes to birthdays. I treat them like its their special day, have a cake, gifts and prepare or take them out for a special dinner.

Back in November one of the guys I work with was involved in a bad car accident. Dave was fine but his wife was badly injured. She lost the twins she was pregnant with an had terrible internal injuries as well as broken ribs. Allison is out of the hospital and coming along as well as can be expected.

Anyway friday night some local bands did a benefit for Dave and Alison. A bunch of us from the office went including myself. Jeffy called and asked if I wanted to go and I hemmed and hawed about it before he finally said he would be over in 10 mins and that I should be dressed warmly. On the way to the bar I told Jeffy I suspected I was gonna get really drunk because all I had eaten all day was a tuna sandwich and some cheetos for lunch. He asked me if I wanted to get some food along the way and I said that was ok I would be fine, so off to the bar we went.

I only drank margaritas with the intention of taking it slow and easy to last the night.  Well that plan went out the window quickly, I went there with $40 for drinking and the maggies were 4.50 each. I did not come home with any money.  I had 4 maggies in the first 2 hours and after that things went kinda blurry.

Im told I was putting on my coat and met with the floor instead. I fell flat on my back. I dont remember the drive home but I do recall jeffy telling me I had to get in my seat he couldnt drive with me in his lap. I also recall telling him that I was planning to rape him but now Im too drunk.

Sammy tells me Jeffy got me home and put me in bed, then he left and she took off my coat and shoes. She asked me what I was drinking and I told her all I had was water.

Thats the first time in 4 years or so that someone was able to get me drunk. Jeffy said he was pretty proud of himself

Last night a couple of friends and I went to "Art after Dark" at Joslyn Museum.  We watched  The Sound of Music it was outdoors and projected on the wall of the museum. It was a sing along to boot and was such a blast.  We brought our little chairs and blankets, snacks drinks and wine and we were good to go. I saw them do something like this in the movie the Wedding Planner, but who would have thunk they did it in Omaha, I guess they are starting to realize we need more to do in Nebraska besides watching corn grow and tipping cows.

We acted like fools and sang out loud, even pretending we could hit all those soprano notes like Julie Andrews.  In our minds we sang just as well if not better than Julie sang.  We clapped and made wolf calls when Maria and Georg kissed for the first time.  I was having such a great time being goofy we giggled through most of it. My friend Melissa was laughing so much she started snorting which just made the both of us giggle even more. My other friend Tammy said she didnt want to sit next to us any more.

I managed to have a pleasant weekend despite the fact that it was hot as hell on Saturday, I think it ended up getting to over 100 and probably close to 100% humidity.  fanciful_lust  you'll be happy to know I did the garage sale thing. I think we hit about 8 or 9 different sales before the temperatures got too miserable to continue. I got a few items of junk, nothing notable just odds and ends. I tend to gravitate to kitchen stuff.

After that we had lunch at Jason's deli. I love their sandwiches. I had a NY Yankee which is a pastrami and corned beef on marble rye with mayo and brown mustard. Mmmm, thats my favorite sandwich. They offer free ice cream too and on a day like that boy, I made sure I got my fill of ice cream.

On Sunday, I watched a movie, I just recently joined netflix and my 1st movie was "Tuesdays with Morrie" . If you need a good cry I would recommend that movie. I was home alone and got to watch the movie and just let the tears flow. My little Oscar was concerned that his Mama was upset and kept trying to lick my tears away.

Later my friends and I met up for dinner to celebrate Chrissy's birthday.  We tried to go to a local restaurant that will be closing soon. Its kind of an Omaha landmark. Getting to the restaurant was a challenge in itself. I knew where the restaurant was and was giving directions. The main intersection before the restaurant had the lights out so my friend got flustered and ended up going through that intersection 4 times before she was heading in the right direction. The cop directing traffic in that intersection must have thought we were psycho or something.

As were driving towards the restaurant I'm pointing out all the businesses who are without power. Then the intersections that have the traffic lights out. We get to the restaurant and the staff is standing outside smoking and mulling around. I tell my friend nah, the restaurant cant be closed. There are a ton of cars in the parking lot. Maybe they are just on a break.  I have her ask the staff if they are open and they confirm that the power is out and they are closing for the night.

You know, up to that point it never even occurred to me that they might have there power out too. Despite me pointing out all the businesses surrounding our restaurant being blacked out.  Even as we pulled up to the restaurant my mind could not fathom the possibility. Because employees always stand at the entrance to the business and take smoke breaks.  Boy,  I was in such denial :P

Anyway we ended up going to Macaroni Grill and managed to have a nice celebration for Chrissy.  And a good laugh at how thick I was.

Old Times Passed

 
Last night Donald invited me to dinner. We went to my favorite Japanese restaurant in Omaha, Hiro’s. I’ve tried just about every Japanese or sushi bar here (keep in mind I live in Omaha, NE there aren’t many to choose from) and they make the best sushi in the area by far.  It was a pleasant out of the blue surprise. After I thought about it for a minute I remembered yesterday was our anniversary.  It was a very sweet gesture.

We had good food, good conversation, an overall good time. Thank god we are still really close friends. Everyone should be so lucky as to be great friends with you ex.

Its a good thing I can be flexible. Its can be confusing keeping up with what my plans are for tonight. 

My friend Roger asked me last week if I wanted to go see Die Hard with he and his wife tonite.  This is the couple I usually go to the casino with and I enjoy their company. So of course I said yes.

On Tuesday my best buddy Jeff asked me to go to dinner with him this week. We tried to figure out a day and he suggested today. We couldnt get our schedules together to go this week. I told him I already had plans with Roger.  Darn we have so much fun when we go out together, its a regular laughfest.

Well  you know its Friday the 13th, and wouldnt you know it Roger's daughter goes into labor today. So he cancels our plans. I call Jeffy to let him know Im free tonite so he and I decide to go to dinner tonite. Yay, or so I thought, minutes later he calls me back and says he forgot he already made alternate plans. Darm

In the meantime Roger is standing at my desk, he tells me they sent her daughter home and his wife Lou, doesnt want to  go to the movies in case Dawn has to go back to the hospital. They want to know if I want to go to dinner with them tonite. Why not, I currently dont have any other plans.

::Fingers crossed:: I hope I ultimately have something to do tonite.
