Yesterday we had our department summer outing. Nothing special the entire department went to the home of one of the associates. We played "team building" games, won cheesy prizes, had some great bbq, and was paid for the time to boot.

We played a team relay, an obstacle course of sorts. First obstacle was to find objects in a rub of shaving cream then a tub of sand without being permitted to wash your hands between stations. Being a mom and an ex wife Im good at finding stuff. I totally rocked it out. Next was horse balls (I dont know why its called that) Since I "throw like a girl" I totally sucked at that, I was the 1st to start for my team and the last to finish. The next obstacle was walking around cones while holding a water balloon between the foreheads of 2 team members. My team aced this part because i didnt have to do this one. Next was putting on a cooks apron and tying it while wearing oven mitts. Again rocked it. Finally after the completion of each obstacle we were given a set of cards with random words. We had to form these words into a specific phrase. Yeah, we sucked at it.

With all the "rocking" I profess we did one would guess we won the competition. Nah, not so much we finished 4th of 7 and they only gave out 3 place prizes. :(

Luckily the relays were completed before we had a big downpour of rain. But, it was time to eat so who was paying attention to the outside anyway.

All in all I'd say fun was had by all :) Oh and I won a plastic pitcher with matching plastic cups. woot

Dear friends,


Christmas is tight this year. I will be making bedroom slippers for everyone as gifts. I hope you'll agree that it's a splendid idea and, should you wish to do the same for some of your Christmas gifts, I've included the instructions below:

You'll need four maxi pads for each pair of slippers. Lay two of them out flat. Wrap a single pad around the toe area of each flat pad to form the top of the slipper. Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom of the foot part. Decorate the tops with whatever you desire: silk flowers (this is most aesthetically appealing), etc.

Maxi slippers are:

Built in deodorant feature help keep feet smelling fresh
No more bending over to mop up spills

Today is our office party. We get to close the department at 2:30 and have fun. Italian Buffet, white elephant, games and prizes. Fun should be have by all.

Getting off work early and getting paid for it is always a good thing.
